16 Days of Activism 2024 Campaign: “You may have heard it said…”

Domestic and Family Violence is an injustice our whole nation cares about. It affects members of our churches as much as it affects members of the broader community.

For the second year, the General Synod Families & Culture Commission is supporting the United Nations 16 days of activism campaign: 25 Nov to 10 Dec to prevent gender-based violence campaign by creating a 16 day faith-based social media campaign which will be run through facebook and Instagram.

The "You may have heard it said..." campaign highlights and reframes scriptures and teachings which have been misused in a coercive way by those who choose violence against women of faith. The campaign raises awareness of DV and also addresses violence-supportive attitudes.

Please raise awareness of domestic violence in our churches around Australia during this period by:

  1. Including a prayer for victims of gender-based violence in your services on 24 November, 1st and 8th December

  2. Adding an insert in your church bulletin or e-newsletter

  3. 'liking' and sharing our Facebook and Instagram posts. Starting on Sunday 24th November, we will be posting daily social media posts. These will include prayers for each Sunday of the Campaign.
