We want everyone to flourish. Right now, the prevalence of domestic and family violence (DFV) throughout our nation is holding many back from flourishing. Perhaps you know someone affected by DFV or are grieved like us by the news reports of so many lives affected by violence. Join us in doing what we can to end the violence. The families and culture commission of the Anglican Church of Australia is focused on prevention of violence and on responding to those affected, particularly in our church communities.
The Australian Anglican Church commits to prevent, intervene, respond and help those affected, particularly those in our church communities who are affected. According to our Government’s National Plan to prevent violence, community settings like our churches are places where social norms, attitudes and practices are formed and reinforced. Recognising the widespread problem of domestic and family violence throughout society, including our own church communities, Australian Anglicans have made Ten Commitments about preventing and responding to violence. Only by preventing violence can we empower the flourishing of all people.
